Welcome to DES10636 History of Design & Technology Assignment 1
The following pages have been put together to form a teaching resource on the history of technological development from the year 1000 through to the year 2000 and beyond.I have also included the 21st century as I believe this era is just as important as any other and seems more relevant to the here & now because we are currently experiencing the changes in technology and witnessing the historical events.
I hope that from this website you can get a good understanding of the major historical and technological developments that have occured throughout the globe.I have chosen to mainly focus on the early european history as this seems most relevant to our own history.
The website also has a strong influence on Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people and also a strong link to the food industry during the periods covered.I have decided to include the food industry part to this website as food technology is my major specialisation area .I think that having a good teaching resource like this will be invaluable when I start teaching.
I have chosen to do my presentation as a website as it is a permanate copy that I can log on anywhere, anytime and access my work.Websites can be easily altered and added to over time to suit my needs.
You will notice that there are a few PDF files with classroom activities throughout my website as well as links to important pages.These are just some of the reason's why I have chosen to present my assignment as a website. I like the flexability and the fact that you can intergrate and add a lot of information compared to a powerpoint presentation.
